whitson acquires SNAP to double down on production engineering
03 September 2025
We’re excited to share that whitson has acquired SNAP, a trusted software solution for nodal analysis and production system diagnostics — further reinforcing our commitment to delivering best-in-class tools for the production engineering community.

SNAP has earned a strong reputation in the industry through mechanistic BHP calculations, jet pump modeling, gas lift design and optimization, and robust nodal analysis workflows. The platform also supports an active and engaged user base, including 100+ logos spanning both operators and service providers.

This acquisition allows us to preserve everything that makes SNAP great — while extending its future through integration with whitson’s cloud-native software platform.

What stays the same?

· SNAP will continue to be available, maintained, and supported in its current form.

· The interface and workflows will remain unchanged, ensuring uninterrupted use for current customers.

· You’ll still access the SNAP experience you know — same features, same performance, same reliability.

What’s next?

As we look to the future, whitson+ will serve as the primary vehicle for innovation around SNAP functionality. We will gradually port selected modules from SNAP into whitson+ — starting with the gas lift design module — while continuing to support the full legacy version of SNAP for users who prefer to stick with the original software.

In other words: innovation moves to the cloud, but legacy users are supported in perpetuity.

A shared future for production engineering

This acquisition is rooted in a shared belief in technical depth, engineering-first design, and long-term commitment to the community. Our goal is simple: to provide the best

platform for production engineers — whether you're optimizing a jet pump, modeling gas lift performance, or planning field-wide uplift strategies.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How will this affect current customers?
Our top priority is maintaining the current user experience and workflows. Existing users will not be affected.

Are there any changes that will be made to SNAP?
The interface will not change, and users can continue with their existing workflows. We plan to uphold all existing SNAP functionality while expanding SNAP-related capabilities in whitson+.

Where do I reach out regarding my renewal and license key?
Please contact sales@whitson.com for commercial support, snap@whitson.com for technical support.

What will support look like?
During a six-month transition period, whitson will gradually take over all customer support responsibilities. We are committed to maintaining the same high level of service and responsiveness. The SNAP development team will remain with whitson for at least 3 years, and most likely 6, ensuring a smooth transfer of both technology and customer relationships.
Let us know how we can help make this transition seamless — and thank you for being part of the SNAP community. We're excited for what’s ahead.
