HOUSTON, September 2026 — whitson is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Netherland, Sewell & Associates, Inc. (NSAI), that enables mutual clients to more efficiently share data from whitson+ in support of reserves evaluations and engineering analysis.
For operators, significant technical work is often completed well before the formal reserves evaluation begins. Production forecasts, type wells, development assumptions, well performance analyses, and supporting data may already be established within whitson+.
The new workflow provides clients with a more direct way to make relevant information available to NSAI when preparing for an evaluation, reducing the need to recreate or manually repackage work that has already been completed.
Clients retain control over the information they share while providing NSAI with access to the technical context supporting their analysis.
Improving Continuity from Forecasting to Reserves
One of the objectives of the collaboration is to improve continuity between an operator's internal engineering workflows and the independent reserves evaluation process.
Rather than treating reserves preparation as a separate data exercise, clients can carry relevant forecasts, assumptions, and supporting engineering work forward from their existing whitson+ environment.
This can reduce duplicate data preparation, improve consistency between datasets, and make it easier for operator and NSAI teams to address questions or updates during the course of an evaluation.
“Much of the engineering work that ultimately supports a reserves evaluation is already being performed by our clients in whitson+,” said James Ewert, VP Customer Success at whitson. “This collaboration is about making the transition from internal analysis to independent evaluation more efficient, while ensuring clients remain in control of their data and technical work.”
The workflow supports whitson’s broader objective of creating greater continuity across petroleum engineering processes and allows NSAI's clients to use their technical work more effectively throughout the lifecycle of an asset.
